New Clients

Thank You for considering Family Behavior Therapy for your child’s ABA Therapy needs. You will find relevant information about our ABA Therapy Services below.

ABA Therapy Approval Process:

Total Process Duration: 2 Weeks – 1 Month (time may vary based on outside variables)

1. Initial Consultation

When we receive your contact information our Intake Coordinator will reach out to you via phone to discuss your child’s circumstances and potential options. During this consultation, the coordinator will determine if your child is ready to begin the application process or if they require additional documents or testing.

Estimated Duration: 15 Minutes

2. Submission to Take an Assessment

As a part of determining whether your child can begin aba therapy, we will need to submit a form to register your child to take an initial assessment.

Estimated Duration: 2 Weeks (Varies)

3. Intake Packet

After the initial consultation, our Intake Coordinator will send you a New Client Intake packet to fill out at home. The packet contains a list of documents and questions necessary to apply for ABA Therapy Services through your Insurance Provider.

Estimated Duration: 1 Hour

4. Submission of Intake Packet

Once we’ve received a completed Intake Packet we will submit a request to assess your child to determine their ABA Therapy needs.

Estimated Duration: 1 - 2 Weeks

5. Initial Assessment

Once approved by your Insurance Provider for an Initial Assessment, our intake coordinator will reach out to schedule your assessment. The assessment will be administered by your child’s assigned BCBA. Half of the assessment will consist of a 1-on-1 session with your child and the other half will be a questionnaire with you (the guardian).

Estimated Duration: 2 Hours

6. Assessment Submission

After the Initial Assessment is completed, your BCBA will prepare the assessment for submission to your Insurance Provider. During this step the BCBA will review their data and findings to determine your child’s function level and request the appropriate amount of therapy hours.

Estimated Duration: 5-7 days

7. Beginning of ABA Therapy

Upon receiving your child’s official approval for ABA Therapy, we will begin selecting your child’s therapy team. The team is selected based on your child’s insurance provider, availability, and location. Usually, the therapy team consists of a BCBA, BCaBA, and an RBT (titles and roles described below). Once selected, your team will reach out to introduce themselves and schedule your first day of therapy.

Estimated Duration: 2 Days – 1 Week
